Column selection is a neat feature in Visual Studio that have saved me some time since I learned about it a few months ago. In order to select a column, start by clicking at the place you want to start the selection, hold down the Alt key, and then drag the mouse vertically down. Once you’ve dragged it down as far as you’d like to go, then just drag the mouse left or right in order to select a “column” of text that spans one, or multiple rows.
